This time, we’d been looking forward to an incredible stay all year. But just days before, an unexpected private booking caused the property to cancel our reservation. Our journey into the heart of the Rub’ al Khali, the vast Empty Quarter, was unforgettable.

In vintage 1950s Land Rovers, we traversed golden dunes on a 60-minute guided safari, spotting gazelles, foxes, and desert flora.

We learned about the tradition of camel racing, a beloved Emirati sport where camels can sprint up to 40 mph, now featuring robotic jockeys. The desert’s ecosystem amazed us, with resilient species like the Arabian oryx, sand gazelles, and fennec foxes thriving in harsh conditions.

As the sun set, stargazing revealed constellations like Orion’s Belt and the Milky Way, guiding travelers just as they did for Bedouins centuries ago. The experience was a perfect blend of adventure, heritage, and nature.

We began our adventure in meticulously restored 1950s Land Rovers, their engines humming as we traversed the undulating dunes. The 60-minute guided nature safari unveiled the desert’s hidden treasures—graceful gazelles, elusive foxes, and resilient flora that thrive in this harsh environment.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we arrived at a secluded Bedouin camp, artfully constructed from natural wood and stone, nestled within a royal desert retreat. The ambiance was serene, offering a tranquil haven amidst the vast expanse of sand.

The evening unfolded with a sumptuous four-course Arabic dinner, each dish prepared using time-honored Emirati methods. The flavors told stories of tradition and heritage, each bite a connection to the past. Traditional drumming and Yola dances provided immersive entertainment, their rhythms echoing the heartbeat of the desert. A mesmerizing sunset falcon show showcased the bond between falconers and their majestic birds, a practice deeply rooted in Emirati culture.

A short camel ride around the camp offered a touch of tradition, allowing us to experience the desert as travelers have for centuries. Later, we gathered around the fire, indulging in shisha under the starlit sky. Our guide shared tales of the constellations and zodiacs, deepening our appreciation for the celestial wonders above.

Engaging in educational activities, we connected with Bedouin heritage through traditional henna art, each design symbolizing aspects of desert life. The experience was both enlightening and enriching, offering a profound understanding of the region’s cultural tapestry.

Riding the Dubai Jetcar is an unforgettable experience that feels like cruising in a sports car—but on water. The futuristic design and smooth glide make it a unique way to explore Dubai’s stunning coastline.

My Take on the Jetcar
• Design: Sitting in a Jetcar is like stepping into a sleek, futuristic vehicle. The car-like design gives it a fun, almost surreal vibe.
• Operation: It’s surprisingly easy to navigate. The jet propulsion system makes it feel smooth and responsive as it glides across the water.
• Seating: With space for two- it’s an intimate experience—perfect for sharing with a friend or partner. Four people max can fix, but not recommended.
• Eco-Friendly: Knowing it’s made with sustainable materials adds a nice touch to the overall experience.

Where I Tried It:

I headed to Dubai Marina, where Jetcar rentals are available. It was the perfect spot to take in views of the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah from the water—something you can’t really appreciate until you see it this way.

If you’re looking for something memorable to try in Dubai, the Jetcar is a fun, one-of-a-kind way to spend a day on the water.

We celebrated New Year’s Eve in style with an unforgettable evening in Dubai! The night featured a delectable three-course dinner complemented by free-flowing drinks. We marveled at breathtaking views of the iconic fireworks display and shared toasts with friends and family. It was the perfect way to create cherished memories and welcome the year ahead with joy and celebration.

Tips for Celebrating NYE in Dubai
1. Book Early: Secure restaurants, events, or accommodations in advance.
2. Pick the Perfect Spot: Top locations include Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, or Atlantis, The Palm.
3. Arrive Early: Popular areas fill up quickly—use public transport to avoid traffic.

Would you cross???

We mentioned this location in our last post and some of us were brave enough to cross the Nepalese Bridge, the Longest Suspended Bridge of the Indian Ocean. So here we are in Tropical Depression Bheki..it was so windy…and that bridge was rocking ya’ll…But we made it!

Then ziplined into a waterfall, it’s the shortest of the 7 onsite . There’s a cute cafe with waterfall views to grab lunch and snacks.

We stated before that you can cross the Nepalese Bridge and do zip lines here and at Casela Nature Park, but I recommend doing it here because you may more time depending on your interests.

📍Chamarel Seven-Colored Earth Geopark 🌈
What is it?
A natural geological wonder in Mauritius, famous for its seven-colored sand dunes—red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow. This unique phenomenon is caused by volcanic rock weathering and is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.

What to know before visiting:
Avoid group tours if you can; they usually allow only two hours, which isn’t enough to explore the park. Plan for at least half a day to hike, visit the waterfalls, cross the Nepalese Bridge, zipline, and take in the scenery.
Tickets are purchased at the gate, and tour options are explained onsite. It can make planning ahead tricky.
The sand colors aren’t as bright as online photos—many are enhanced. My unfiltered photo gives a more realistic idea.

Tips:
• The shortest zipline offers a close-up view of the Seven-Colored Earth.
• If you’re deciding between here or Casela for ziplining or the Nepalese Bridge, Chamarel is a better choice for a more relaxed experience.

Come on one of the most unique safaris in the world. It’s one of the few places where you can walk with lions.
We had cheetah encounters and got up close and personal with zebras, giraffes, ostriches, and other wildlife on our eco-rider safari.
It’s a fun-filled day with many other things to do at the nature park.
You almost need two days to fully experience everything!

We’ve listed EVERYTHING you need to know about the booking process and the best ways to plan out your day from our experience @caselamauritius

1. Book your activities well in advance. During peek season, I recommend about 2-3 months to get the date, and specific times to maximize your day.
2. Depending on what you want to do, plan to arrive early, opens at 9 am.
3. The park is huge and you will be transported by trolly, so you need to account for this when booking activites. I recommend 45 mins between each to account for transportation delays.
4. You must purchase an admission ticket and your activities individually. Included with entry: Tulawaka Coaster And the African Safari Truck
5. We had enough time to do:
🛵Eco- Rider Safari
🚶🏾‍♀️🦁Walk with Lions
🐆Cheetah encounter
🎢Tulawaka Coaster
Nepalese Bridge is also onsite, but you can also do it at Charamel and will share more from there next.
6. You can also do a jeep or ATV safari but we selected the eco-rider since it will get you the closest to the wildlife.
7. Remember to print your tickets before travel for quick entry!

The one thing you need to know about Greece is you need time….This isn’t one of those places you want to rush through, especially if you want to see multiple islands.

We spent a few days in Athens doing touristy things.

From there, island hopped to Mykonos and Santorini. Crete’s pink sand beaches are definitely something to see.

We spent 9 days on the ground but I really needed about 2-3 more for some down time to visit the local villages on each island and chill.

When I go back for a baecation, we aren’t planning much of anything, just want to wake & wander to local foodie spots, hit exotic beaches and make love on balconies.

Traveling with pets…two pit bulls…So many dilemmas…
1. We were traveling on a cruise a few days after a family funeral and didn’t want to board the pups back to back.
2. We didn’t want to board them the entire time to avoid less stress on them.
3. We struggled to find a location nearby our family that allowed pit bulls OR 2 dogs.

It was a bit stressful because we wanted to be there for family, and didn’t have a lot of time to decide.

We were thankful to find a solution with @airbnb . We came across this farm house to host us and fur babies for the funeral.

The perks for us were:
They allowed BOTH of our large dogs at no additional cost.
The location was within 15 minutes of our family and proceedings. This helped us be near our babies, but still able to spend time with our loved ones.
The property was an experience for @lionelandlola , and loved the farm animals. It was great to see them interact and roam freely 🫶🏾
