Discover African Heritage! 

Get ready to embark on our 3 country heritage tour. Ghana, Togo and Benin, all West African nations located on the Gulf of Guinea. Discover influences from African heritage. Learn about different tribes and rituals from three different nations. Visit where the slave trade began at "The Door of No Return". 

Embrace new surroundings and traditions.

Travel Dates:

Saturday, March 21 Arrive in Accra, Ghana by 2pm local time

Saturday, March 28 Depart Accra, Ghana by 11:30pm local time

Arrival Day 1 - March 21: Welcome to Ghana!

 Upon arrival at the Kotoka International airport, our tour guide will meet the group for a hotel transfer. Relax or enjoy a walking tour through James Town, old Accra. End the day with a live band performance.

Day 2- March 22:  Accra – Elmina Tour

Depart for the Experience a walk across the canopy walkway of the Kakum National Park comprising of undisturbed virgin rainforest. Make brief stopovers at an oil palm plantation and a local factory to witness work in progress. Continue to the Cape Coast Castle a fortress that was built by the Swedes in 1653, seized by the Danes and later conquered by the British. End the day with a drum and dance class. Breakfast & Lunch is included.

Day 3 - March 23: Cape Coast – Accra

 Start the day with a visit to the Elmina Castle to see the "Door Of No Return" and learn about the slave trade. Then Take a walk through the Elmina township and fish market to view some houses built. Join in a cooking session to create several West African traditional dishes and then enjoy eating the feast prepared. Return to Accra after lunch and enjoy time at the beach. Breakfast & Lunch is included. 

Day 4 - March 24: Accra

Free day to relax or explore on your own. You may head out to immerse in the arts and crafts of Accra. Breakfast & Lunch is included. 

Day 5 - March 25: Accra to Lomé

 Set off for Togo by crossing the border into Lome. On arrival we visit the Grand 

Marche then to the Art Street with its craft vendors. Also stopover at the Akodesséwa fetishes market, where one can find magic remedies and local voodoo charms used by local sorcerers. Set off for the Benin border through Togoville, where we’ll visit the ancient German Cathedral and the traditional museum of the King of Togoville. Continue trip 

to Ouidah for a nights rest. Breakfast & Lunch included.  

Day 6 - March 26:

Ouidah - Porto Novo - Cotonou 

Set off for Porto-Novo named by the Portuguese in the 1500s. Many Afro- 

Brazilians settled in Porto Novo following their return to Africa after emancipation in Brazil. We will visit the vibrant market and Ethnographic museum, and the Grand Mosque, formerly a church designed in Brazilian style, Da Silva Museum and the 300 year-old Palace of King Toffa, which retraces the history of Porto-Novo. End the day with a visit to the Dantokpa Market and the Artisans Center.

Day 7 - March 27: Cotonou/Ganvie/Ouidah/Lome/Accra 

Early morning visit to Ganvie, the “Venice” of Africa, a 500-year-old village on water. Continue to the Sacred Forest and the Temple of the Pythons, both important voodoo shrines. Nearby the Portuguese Fort now houses the History Museum. The exhibits focus on the slave trade and Benin consequent cultural links with Brazil and the Caribbean. Finally, we visit the Afro-Brazilian House and the Door of no Return. Depart for Accra through Grand Popo. Breakfast & Dinner Included 

Day 8 - March 28: Accra & Departure Day

Free morning with options including a visit to the Makola Market, the Arts Centre for National Culture, the Oxford street and its shops, etc. In the late afternoon, we check into airport for departure.

Book flights accordingly. You can book or own, pay in full or make bi-weekly or monthly payments.

Accommodations:

We are staying in hotels in Ghana, Togo & Benin Africa, each with private and shared rooms.

If booking a double room, there are 2 single beds. You will be partnered with someone of your choice or of the same sex, if solo. Shared bathroom. 

If booking a single private room, there is a single or double bed in room. Private bathroom.

If booking a couples room, you will share a bed with that person. Private bathroom.  

You will travel with like-minded individuals and share experiences together. 

Ask about traveling with children under the ages of 18.
